Keeping in view the planned infrastructure in ICED, SAI India volunteered its use as a Global Training Facility (GTF) for environment auditing for SAIs across the world. This proposal of SAI India was accepted by the Working Group on Environmental Auditing (WGEA), under the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), in March 2011. The project plan was approved in March 2011 and a project sub-committee was formed in August 2011 to guide the development of the GTF.
The project is aimed to harness all available training materials in the field of environmental auditing as well as the expertise available with the SAIs, agree on a common framework and target for the first delivery of a comprehensive environmental auditing training course. WGEA will provide subject matter and experience; the SAI of India has offered to partner WGEA in providing infrastructure as well as support with knowledge and expertise in the training.
